Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Sticky

Welcome to Thursday Art and Dinner Date! Today’s optional art prompt is “sticky”. Tweety Bird is hanging out at the local coffee shop this morning. He didn’t realize how big his sticky cinnamon bun would be! I forgot to take progress photos my friend, but I basically do the same each week. I draw my sketch, upload it to Photoshop and tweak it a bit then superimpose it on a royalty-free background I find on Pixabay.

On my kid’s art channel, Rain Frances Art For Kids, I’m sharing a drawing lesson called “How To Draw Glasses“, this was a fun little drawing to do!

Dinner Date: Strawberry Orange Daquiri!

For our dinner date, I’m keeping it liquid again! I came up with a blender-free strawberry orange daquiri that I make with strawberry simple syrup. It’s so delicious! Here’s the video I posted on YouTube:

Doggie Updates

The training continues. I’ve invested so much time training my 5 little hooligans so that they will feel safe and loved. The four girls are absolutely fine being in their crates now, but little Benny Bear the puppy was still having stress issues. I found what’s called a “lick plate” at the pet store. You basically spread their favorite food onto the plate and freeze it. As you can see, it screws onto the side of the crate and it keeps little Benny happy for quite some time. I was even able to close the crate door while he was enjoying it!!

Here’s a quick video I made to show you how the dogs are adapting to their crates. The key is to make it the best place in the world for them and that involves food and toys! I post a lot of short videos about the dogs on my YouTube channel Rain’s Kitchen and Garden if you’re interested!

I couldn’t have a prompt called “sticky” without including these two! Harry and Marv from Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. In the first movie they called themselves the “wet bandits”. In the second they called themselves the “sticky bandits”!! Hilarious duo!

I think I would fight Tweety for that sticky cinnamon roll. It is one of my favorite non-diet foods. Believe me, I have a long list of favorite non-diet foods that I would love to wolf down, but alas, it is not to be. I would have a virgin orange-strawberry daiquiri, though. It does sound delicious and refreshing.
Izzi was crate trained but I honestly don’t remember having to train her. She used her crate for a bed at night and on the rare occasion where we had to put her in it, she just went in. Someone was almost always home at our house so we rarely left her alone. The one time that I remember leaving her, my neighbor said she was howling the whole time we were gone 😝 … but, I have never had five dogs at one time so I can appreciate the need for training. Looks to me like you are doing a great job.
I have no recollection of Harry and Marv … in fact I am not even sure I watched “Home Alone” … I know it was a big deal at one point in time, but apparently I was never tuned in. I am tuned in to your blog though … glad you are stickying around. I think I would be lost without you …

Hi, Rain! I’m running very behind today. I loved your post from Tweety Bird to Harry and Marv. Your video on the five dogs and their cages was darling. I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again. Your voice is magic, so calm and soothing. It takes stress away from high-strung me. I didn’t follow your prompt on my post today. Instead I posted a picture I took of an original Friz Freleng drawing of Bugs Bunny that I spotted in the window of a store in the Venetian in Las Vegas. I thought you might enjoy seeing it. Meanwhile, keep on being special you!

Thank you for sharing your doggie Story 🙂

Traude Rostrose

Dear Rain, I think I would prefer a strawberry orange daquiri to a sticky cinnamon bun at the moment 😉 Thanks for the doggie update! All the best, Traude https://rostrose.blogspot.com/2024/09/calle-libre-festival-2024-und.html
