Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Pumpkin Patch

Welcome to Thursday Art and Dinner Date! Today’s optional art prompt is “Pumpkin Patch”. I decided to do a tribute drawing of a famous scene from the Charlie Brown Halloween Special.

This is the scene I’m referring to from “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” from 1966. Sally has such a great big ol’ crush on Linus that she gives up “tricks or treats” and decides to sit in the pumpkin patch with Linus on Halloween night.

Linus is convinced that the “Great Pumpkin” will rise from the pumpkin patch and give toys to good little boys and girls…but as we can see, the only thing that rises is Snoopy – and he scares the kids silly!

I sketched out the idea with Sylvester, Tweety and Bugs; then outlined it with my black fine-liner marker. I uploaded the drawing to my computer and fixed up the colors with my photo editing software. I found the background image on Pixabay. I love this site, it’s got royalty-free images, photos and videos that you can use for any type of social media project!

Rain Frances Art For Kids: The Scream Mask

This week on Rain Frances Art For Kids!, I’m sharing a video drawing tutorial: How To Draw The Scream Mask.

I LOVED this movie, it was pretty scary, have you seen it?

Dinner Date: Pizza Skulls

I made my yummy pizza skulls the other night for a pre-Halloween dinner!

These are so much fun to make and so festive. Of course, you need the ridiculously expensive Nordic Ware Skull Cakelet Pan…I treated myself to that in 2020. I made a cheese pizza batch and another batch that was veggie/vegan. They were so good!

Here are the video instructions on how I made them if you’re interested!

I hope you had a good Halloween.
    Happy November wishes.

    All the best Jan

  2. Great facial expressions

  3. Oh how you captured the scares look on Sylvester and Tweety’s faces. You are really good at facial expressions … even on your Pizza dough :0 … Pizza skulls! I know some little boys who would love that and my kids would have loved it too, though it is a little late for them. I will keep the recipe though, just in case I have the opportunity to make good use of it. So I am loaded with candy as we had only a few trick or treaters … which is usual, but I don’t dare just buy a few candies or there will be a hundred kids at our door😝 Anyway, on to the next. Here that is election day. I can’t tell you how nervous I am about it … I can’t even imagine living in a Trump world USA … I might have to move to Thailand if that happens. Wish us luck 😒 Be we, ,my friend …

  6. Happy Halloween, Rain! Love your Bugs Bunny ‘n gang pumpkin patch! I’m going to send your pizza skulls tutorial to another blogging buddy who has a Nordicware skull pan — he’ll love it!

  7. Nothing to share today — I’m still trying to get my brain around being home from England and doing all the stuff around the house that needs to be done. But I love your photos. The Pizza skulls are inspired!
