Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Microphone

Welcome to Thursday Art and Dinner Date! Today’s optional art prompt is “Microphone”. Daffy Duck is singin’ in the rain! He pulled out one of those old-timey radio show microphones from the 1930’s for this photo shoot. Did you know that Daffy was “born” in 1937?

I don’t know why but I had a pickle of a time drawing Daffy today. I’ve drawn him hundreds of times but getting his legs in the right position was challenging! I sketched him by hand then uploaded the sketch to my graphics design tablet and fixed him up! I took out a splatter paintbrush tool in my photo editing software and added the rain effect with different shades of gray. The royalty-free image of the cobblestone street is courtesy of Pixabay.

Here’s a photo of me filming one of my art tutorials for Rain Frances Art on YouTube. I use a little lapel microphone when I’m creating videos. This photo is from 2022 I believe!

  1. Oh I can just hear the nasally duck sound of “Oh Sole Mio …” What a Hoot, Rain. Hope all is well with you. I am chasing my tail these days as a Mother and a Grandmother. Poppy’s parents will be back from Thailand next week … maybe (just maybe)I will find some time to stay in touch with good friends 🙂 I know you are keeping busy too (probably much busier than me, but my excuse is that I am “old”😂 and much lazier than you, Ha! ) So glad you are managing to keep the TAD going. It is my one thing I do for myself, so I think I would be lost without it (you). Stay well, be easy on yourself and hugs to your hooligans. Oh, and awesome picture … your art space looks much more organized than mine 😒Until next week … trying to decide what to do with “cards”. Hmmmm … I suspect I know what you have in mind and I hope you will be sharing some of yours with us. Stay well …

    • Oh Andrea, I wish I could share my card designs with you all, but it’s TOP SECRET!!! Actually I figure it might be a project that takes me a few years to complete if you can wait that long lol! ☺

  2. Louise (Fundy Blue)

I think your drawing is fabulous, Rain, even though you had a pickle of a time with it. Have a lovely weekend, my friend!

  3. Dear Rain, even though there were difficulties with his legs, you did a great job with Daffy singing in the rain 😊. (I didn’t know when he was born…)
    All the best, Traude

    Much♡love

  5. I love your art!! I have a lot of catching up to do here.

  6. Oh, JUST who I want singing under my window in the middle of the night, LOL! Hey Rain, did you hear there’s a new 2D Loony Tunes movie out now called “The Day the Earth Blew Up?” It stars Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. It’s a return to old style animation instead of the 3D computer animation so popular now with Disney and Pixar.

  7. Cute drawing Rain! The soup looks delicious.

  8. I like that Daffy!
