Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Lanterns

Welcome to Thursday Art and Dinner Date! Today’s optional art prompt is “Lanterns”. Tweety Bird seems to be in search of something along the coast of the harbour. Good thing he has his lanterns to light his way!

I sketched out Tweety Bird holding a lantern, then outlined the sketch with a black fine-liner marker. I uploaded the image to my computer and fixed up the colors with Photoshop. The background image is royalty-free from Pixabay.

Rain Frances Art For Kids! Potato!

For my YouTube channel Rain Frances Art For Kids!, I’m sharing my video “How To Draw A Potato”.

I was thinking about Mr. Potato Head when I drew the moustache! Did you have one of those as a kid? I also had Mrs. Potato Head!

Dinner Date: Breakfast Potatoes

Breakfast for dinner…love it. I made my Fried Potatoes and Onions – total comfort food!

Everything is going very well at home. The dogs are continuing to settle in and understand that this is their FOREVER home! This is lazy Miley stinkin’ up my bed! ☺ I just realized it’s nearly time for me to make the art prompt list for 2025!!!

  1. So I went to mail your Christmas card today and I am told your Mail Service is on strike and they aren’t accepting mail from here (or anywhere, I presume). So what happened to “in rain, snow, cold or heat!”? Anyway, don’t take it personally if my card gets to you next year sometime when the mailmen get what they are striking for. If you hear that the strike is settled, let me know and I will run to the post office 😁. Be well, my friend …

  2. Cute sketch of Tweety holding a lantern. Maybe, I can get more involved with TAD sometime in the new year. I still have much on my plate, so I really can’t say fr sure that’ll happen. All I can do is hope for the best. 🙂

I do like the the lantern picture with Tweety 🙂

    All the best Jan

  4. OK — no lanterns here, but I do have some potatoes on my dinner plate! Have a happy rest of the week!

  5. How sweet and atmospheric the lantern picture with Tweety is, dear Rain!
Your “child potato” reminds me of a TV advert for ready-made mashed potatoes and dumplings from my childhood: “Stocki is the potato king” – the potato king figure looked similar to yours, only with a crown and no moustache 😉 Your lazy Miley is clearly feeling at home in your bed 😊
All the best from Austria, Traude

  6. You have mastered Tweety … you should apply for a job at Looney Toons to do art 🙂 As for next years list, I have a few suggestions to help out. Feel free to ignore them if you already have your list. So here goes … shadows, faces (I see faces everywhere and it is fun to capture them and see if anyone else sees them), favorite animals, fences, snow, sun, favorite birds, favorite pets, trees, flowers, fire, abstract art, city streets, water, carnival, bees, boats, butterflies, spiders, kids, sports, bugs, leaves, clouds, glass, crafts, outer space, hats, sculpture, bottles, fish, landscapes … okay enough is enough. Don’t be offended, I am just trying to help out 🙂
