Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Double

Welcome to Thursday Art and Dinner Date! This week’s optional art prompt is “double”. Daffy Duck did a double-take when he saw that billboard during his daily walk in the park! Poor Daffy, one Bugs is more than enough for him! Do you remember those tv commercials for Doublemint Gum from the 70’s and 80’s? They always had identical twins in the ads!

I found this image on Google of an old Doublemint Gum ad from the 1940’s. Healthful? LOL!

For my TAD piece, the first step was to sketch out my idea in my sketchbook. I then took a photo and uploaded it to my computer. I used my photo-editing software to outline.

I digitally added colors and erased the backgrounds.

I found some royalty-free images on Pixabay and downloaded a font that looked similar to the old Doublemint Gum font from the ads.

With another royalty-free image of a park, I put it all together! Double your fun! โ˜บ

For my kid’s art channel, I created a drawing lesson on how to draw a cucumber!

So much fun!

Dinner Date

Well, it’s not quite dinner yet, but this week I harvested about 60 bulbs of garlic! I doubt they will last into the new year, I use so much of it in my cooking, but it was a great harvest!

The three older girls sleeping on my bed. Ali-Fay, Miley and Raven. The dogs are continuing to settle here, and I’m continuing the 4-hour a day training!

I will leave you with yesterday’s beautiful sunrise!

An awesome piece of art, Rain! And, yes, I do remember Doublemint Gum and its commercials. I love to see happy and obviously loved dogs like your three gals. Have a great weekend! โค๏ธ

I do remember the Double Gum commercials. I like the cartoon you drew – great job! Daffy probably thinks he’s seeing double and he really hopes that’s all it is, too. lol Enjoy your weekend, dear Rain!

Dear Rain,
you have designed your picture today in a brilliant and elaborate way. I like it very much. In Austria we didn’t have any twin advertisements for Wrigley’s Doublemint (as far as I remember), it was mainly about fun and fresh breath when kissing ๐Ÿ™‚ After enjoying all the delicious garlic dishes, a chewing gum like this can be a good choice in some situations, even if garlic is definitely healthier than chewing gum…
How cute your dog girls are!
All the best, Traude

Well you are the clever one. I thought of Double Bubble gum, but totally forgot about Doublemint Gum and yes, now I remember their ads and the twins. Good on you, Rain … I really struggled with this prompt.
Love your dogs and what are you training four hours a day? Do you train all four at once or take each out on their own? I will never have the opportunity to train a dog again … I have to admit, I’m jealous (but in a good way).
Home grown garlic … yummm! I too love garlic and use it a lot, but mine comes from the store. Is there a noticeable difference? My gardens are doing well, but I only grow flowers. My DIL does all the veggie growing. Loved your post and it ‘s more like before you went on vacation … are you back?
