Welcome to Thursday Art and Dinner Date! Today’s optional art prompt is “Balloons”! Bugs is up, up and away this week, enjoying the view from his hot air balloon!
I drew the basic outline in my sketchbook then uploaded the image to Photoshop to add the colours. I superimposed the hot air balloon on to a royalty-free image I found on Pixabay!
The Grackles are back at the feeder. They always bring spring with them – and a heck of a lot of noise! I love their colors though.
The pet training continues! I came home one day from a short trip out to find my kitchen ransacked by these hooligans. Benny and Lucy, whom I call “the puppies” were the culprits. They do have separation anxiety but when they’re together, they are quite destructive. So I decided crate-training is necessary. You basically make the cage the most fun place on earth for them – play with them in there, give them lots of treats, give them their toys, lots of praise etc…Little by little, they start to like being in there. As you can see in the second image, they actually are calm and comfortable enough to sleep in their crates. They spend some time each day in the crates so that they get used to being in them when I have to leave the house.
Dinner Date: Easy To Peel Hard Boiled Eggs
Interesting choice for a dinner date isn’t it? I go through over 60 eggs a month my friends because I give some to the dogs every day. Peeling the eggs was driving me nuts so I did a lot of research and figured out how to best boil them and cool them to make them easy to peel. I have a blog post here where I show you step by step or check out the video below:
That’s all for now folks! Please join us again next Thursday for Thursday Art and Dinner Date! Next week’s optional art prompt is: “Vincent Van Gogh”. If you’d like a heads-up, here is a list of all of the art prompts for 2024.

All the best Jan
Thanks Jan! ♥
Great sketch design! While I’m not into sharing at the appropriate time usually your art prompts, I did keep this one on the back burners in my brain and did an illustration recently of a hot air balloon also but I won’t make its way to publication for awhile yet. 🙂
Thanks Cathy! I love that you drew a hot air balloon! Looking forward to seeing it! ♥
I just missed the Linky but here is my contribution anyway!! Fun challenge!

Thanks Heidrun! Hugs! ♥
I’d love to be with Bugsy floating over that vibrant landscape, Rain! And thanks for the hard boiled eggs tips. I will try your method tomorrow. Peeling hard boiled eggs makes me nuts! Yours look perfect! Poor Benny and Lucy ~ lol! Never a dull moment at your place! Take care!
Oh gosh Louise, you have the guts to fly over Vegas so I’m sure you’d join Bugs!!♥
…peeling eggs can be a challenge.
Definitely Tom!
Dear Rain, your balloon drawing brings back fond memories of the Balloon Regatta that we experienced in the town of Page in 2012 – look here: https://rostrose.blogspot.com/2013/02/usa-10-tag-page-lake- powell-antelope.html
Alright, so you have hooligans in the kitchen 😉 I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you can tame the little rowdies! Maybe the egg diet will help ;-DDD All the best, Traude https://rostrose.blogspot.com/2024/05/weltreise-2024-3-station-melbourne.html
LOL…I hope the egg diet will help the hooligans!! ☺
No balloons today (just sweet goslings but I didn’t share the link as it didn’t fit!)) BUT I DID check out your egg video and have bookmarked it forever. Great stuff there!
Thanks Jeanie!! ♥
Dear puppies ❤️
♥♥♥♥
Interesting info on how to crate train dogs!
Thanks! ☺♥
Bugs is up up and away in his beautiful balloon! Those eggs look so large!
Big hens I guess Christine lol! ☺
Oh, we had a similar idea for the meme today.
My Mom gave our dog raw eggs in hopes it helps her against cancer. Did not…
Oh that’s sad to hear. I know a farmer who just tosses the entire raw egg to the dogs and they eat them, shell and all.
